Why I Do What I Do: The Story Behind JBS Inspection Services

After nearly three decades in a traditional office setting, I found myself at a crossroads. My final role supported a ten-year endowed program, and when that program concluded, so did my time in the world of philanthropy. Around the same time, life threw me a few curveballs—divorce, remarriage, and the ongoing responsibility of caring for my daughter, who has special needs. Suddenly, the structure I’d relied on for years no longer fit the life I was living. I needed flexibility. I needed purpose. And I needed a way to support my family while being present for the people who needed me most.

That’s when my husband came home with an idea that would change everything: a canine bed bug inspection business.

It wasn’t something I’d ever imagined doing, but the more I learned, the more it made sense. It combined inspections, problem-solving, and the chance to make a real impact in people’s lives. We started with one dog—Tara—and a few years later, added Arthur to the team. Since 2018, I’ve been building JBS Inspection Services with dedication, compassion, and a real commitment to excellence.

This work allows me to serve my community, protect homes and businesses, and maintain the flexibility I need to care for my daughter. It’s more than a job—it’s a mission rooted in resilience, family, and the belief that meaningful work can take many forms.
